much of a break. kolo 8 news now's matt vaughan has more on how they're preparing for the next big sporting event. how does march madness compare to other major sporting events when it comes the business you see at the sports book? it is one of the busiest times of year for sports betting. there will be people all throughout the tournament watching games and placing bets. is the flow of people through here pretty steady during the tournament, or is there a particular time that it gets really busy? it's pretty busy throughout ... but there march madness brings in more revenue for sports betting ... with roughly 9-billion dollars ... compared to about 4 billion for the super bowl. but keep in mind that there are nearly 2 weeks of games for people to bet on in the n-c-a-a tournament ... whereas the super bowl is just one day. and despite the fact that it only happens 15th. reporting live from atlantis race and sports book, matt

turning now to the fight over solar power. the nevada public utilities commission will hold a hearing today on a proposal from n-v energy to "grandfather" some rooftop solar customers. it's in response to the rate increases approved by regulators in the proposal includes allowing the lower rates for existing solar customers if they their system by another option would take effect over the course of 4 years. governor sandoval has signed an emergency regulation to address the teacher shortage in nevada. right now there are 40 vacant teaching positions in washoe county and 7-hundred in clark county. the governor's "statement of emergency" signed on friday allows out of state teachers to get temporary teaching licenses. after that--- they'll have a year to finish meeting all the requirements. this is the second emergency regulation the governor has signed. police are looking for two men who broke into total wine on vriginia and stole a large amount of merchandise. it happened early

on scene, they found a smashed window. police are looking for two black men seen driving a white, four- door pickup truck. anyone with any information is asked to call the reno police department or secret witness at 322-4900. a woman is in the hospital after rolling her car yesterday afternoon. it happened on northbound i-580 near moana. n-h-p says she swerved to avoid debris on the road... over corrected... then rolled. she was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. troopers don't think alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. divers have recovered the bodies of two fisherman who went missing at pyramid lake authorities say they were found just off of warrior point in water about 130 feet deep. the bay area men disappeared during a fishing trip on january first. the reno police department's "run with a recruiter" series kicked off at reno high school this weekend. the department plans to add 16 to 18 positions this year-- so officers met with some potential applicants.

showed up to work out alongside officers, ask questions, and see if they're physically ready to take the test to become a police officer. the main short term weather issue is the gusty east ridge level winds along the sierra crest and carson range, generally ranging from 50-60 mph since yesterday with a maximum gust of 74 mph at alpine meadows summit. these wind speeds should trend downward today, although some gusts near 55 mph could still occur. on lake tahoe, wind gusts were peaking near 25 mph on mid-lake buoys. these winds will produce choppy conditions with wave heights near 2 feet along the west shores mainly through this morning, but not quite reaching the threshold for a lake wind advisory. otherwise, as the ridge axis moves east of the sierra crest by
